Infosys freshers onboarding issue: Centre directs Karnataka to investigate delay – Times of India

Infosys Delay in onboarding: IT union nascent after complaint by Information Technology Employees Senate (EffortIn a complaint sent to the Ministry of Labour and Employment regarding delay in recruitment of over 2,000 candidates by Infosys, the Labour Ministry has directed the Office of the Karnataka State Labour Commissioner to take appropriate action under the relevant labour laws.
According to an ET report, in a letter dated September 3, the ministry has urged the Karnataka labour department to investigate the matter and take appropriate action as the state government is the appropriate authority to enforce the relevant labour laws in this case.
Last month, NITES filed a formal complaint against Infosys with the labour ministry, alleging delays in recruitment and “continued exploitation and unprofessional behaviour” of over 2,000 young engineering graduates selected for systems engineer (SE) and digital specialist engineer (DSE) roles during the 2022-23 recruitment drive.
This week, Infosys has started sending joining dates to the affected engineering graduates who have been waiting to join for the last two years.

On Monday, the Bengaluru-based IT major sent appointment letters to over 1,000 new hires it had promised to hire in 2022, and a large number of letters were sent on Tuesday as well.
Sources privy to the development told the financial daily that the demand environment at Infosys is good and the company plans to send appointment letters to all waitlisted candidates by December.
The company has revised its revenue guidance for the full year to 3-4%, up from 1-3% previously. This indicates that more staff are needed than previously estimated.
NITES chairman Harpreet Singh Saluja on Tuesday said most of the 2,000 young engineering graduates selected for SE roles have received their joining dates, while about 500 graduates selected for DSE roles are still awaiting their joining dates. “We will keep a close watch on the rest,” he added.
