Airports across India were back to normal at 3 am on Saturday after a 17-hour global outage due to a software glitch in computers running MS Windows. However, full normalcy may take a few days due to the large number of cancelled and delayed flights and undelivered luggage.

The Microsoft glitch affected check-in systems used by Indian airlines, including IndiGo, Air India Group, Akasa and SpiceJet, from around 10.40 am on Friday. This led to manual processes like handwritten boarding cards, no DigiYatra, security check stamps on boarding cards, non-functioning of terminal displays and long queues at airports.
Air India Express announced on Saturday afternoon: “The technical issues have been resolved, and we are now fully operational on all platforms. We can't wait to have you on board.”
