Travelling on national highways now expensive! NHAI hikes toll rates on highways by 5% – Times of India

NHAI Toll hike Be careful! From Monday, June 3, 2024, drivers using expressways across the country will have to pay higher tolls. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to increase the charges by an average of 5 per cent.
The annual revision of highway user fee, which was earlier scheduled to come into effect from April 1, was postponed due to the Lok Sabha elections.
“The new user fee will be applicable from 3.6.2024,” a senior NHAI official announced on Sunday.
The adjustment in toll charges is part of an annual process that links rates to changes in rules of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based inflation.
There are about 855 user toll plazas across the National Highway network, where fees are levied as per rules. National Highway The Duty (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008.
Of these, about 675 are publicly funded fee plazas, while 180 are managed by concessionaires.
