Deposits grew faster than loans in June quarter – Times of India
Mumbai: The banking sector Extraordinary Loans grew 4.8% in the first quarter – from Rs 168.7 lakh crore by the end of March 2024 to Rs 176.8 lakh crore on June 28. Deposit grew by 5.3% from Rs 209.3 lakh crore to Rs 220.6 lakh crore.

The growth in the deposit book during the first quarter has been around Rs 11.3 lakh crore, while the loan book has grown by Rs 8 lakh crore.
According to Macquarie's report, among the banks that have reported their business data so far, the average quarter-on-quarter growth has been 1.5% for public sector banks and 0.2% for private banks. In deposits, the average quarter-on-quarter growth has been 0.3% for public sector banks and 0.6% for private banks.
