Aircraft crash investigator AAIB proposes to build aviation museum – Times of India

New Delhi: A unique scheme may soon be started in India. Aviation Museum which is not only the country's Air travel travel but it also uses a mix of we are. Aircraft parts and other materials were displayed to show how some accidents happened in the past. And what was learned from them to make flying safer in the future. Aircraft Accident Bureau of Investigation (AAIB) has proposed to set up this museum in an airport hangar like Jewar in Greater Noida, which will be open to both passengers and the general public.It is in discussions with the Union Aviation Ministry to finalise the plan and implement it.
“AAIB proposes to lease a wide body hangar at an airport like Jewar in Noida and set up its testing facility there. As of now, the bureau does not have any such dedicated facility. Half of the hangar will be used as an testing laboratory while the other half is planned to be used as a unique museum,” sources said.
But won't displaying parts of crashed planes create fear in people? “On the contrary, the idea is to show how aviation has learnt from past mistakes and made flying safer for the future. The AAIB, which is expanding its role, also plans to use the facility to train crews. There is a saying that accidents are never new, only the person is new,” sources said. “This will be one aspect of the proposed museum. The plan is to showcase how aviation has evolved in India; learnings from 5-6 accidents using VR and what can be learnt from having some old aircraft,” sources said. In the absence of a dedicated facility, the AAIB returned aircraft parts to the respective airlines after completion of investigations.
Several countries have dedicated aviation museums, including some within airports such as San Francisco International.
